Every search for CS2 skin deals hides the same wish: buy for less than it is worth. Good news — it is not a myth. The same skin costs differently on ten marketplaces at the same moment, and right now our database shows 4,200 items selling 12–50% below the market median. Here is where these gaps come from, how to catch them with your own eyes, and when a "deal" price is bait.
Cross-market gaps are not a glitch — they are how this market is built. Audiences barely overlap: the West sits on CSFloat, China on Buff163, the ruble scene on its own sites, each with its own demand. Fees from 1% to 13% press prices differently. And money moves slowly: the week-long trade lock makes sellers dump on some platforms while the same items sit comfortably higher elsewhere. The result in our base: even among liquid items the median gap of the fat finds is 19%, reaching 40–55% on knives. Who is who among the marketplaces — in the CS2 marketplaces overview.
You can hunt spreads by hand through item cards — or let the machine do the dirty sifting: the deals page has the whole database pre-filtered. How to squeeze profit out of it, step by step. First pick the mode for your job: Markets — the classic buy-on-one-sell-on-another link with both prices right in the row; From Steam — what is worth selling off your Steam balance onto the markets; Into Steam — the reverse road, funding the wallet cheaply with skins, covered in our wallet funding guide.
Where the "what it is really worth" estimate comes from: not one number but a median of independent witnesses — each marketplace's fresh lowest ask, live Steam, and the last listing that actually left the market. Fewer than two witnesses — the item honestly has no estimate: an empty cell beats a pretty fantasy.
| Item | Lowest now | Market median | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
Classic Knife Boreal FN | $209 | ≈$333 | 53% |
Gut Marble Fade MW | $145 | ≈$238 | 45% |
USP-S Ancient Visions WW | $24 | ≈$36 | 37% |
M4A4 Red DDPAT FN | $103 | ≈$140 | 34% |
M4A4 Faded Zebra MW | $29 | ≈$37 | 30% |
Deagle Hand Cannon MW | $348 | ≈$407 | 27% |
M4A1-S Moss Quartz BS | $19 | ≈$23 | 25% |
A term from trader folklore worth knowing: liquid illiquid — skins that formally count as illiquid yet reliably find a buyer. Old collection M4s like Red DDPAT, rare pistol finishes, "ugly" knives at good floats. The crowd does not monitor them and bot farms skip them, so prices move lazily and cross-market gaps live for weeks — long enough for a human without software to catch them. This is exactly the segment where our table above finds its 25–50%. The advanced level of the same hunt is float flipping: listings with a notably better float inside one wear tier carry their own spread, and every listing's float shows on the item card.
Strategy depends on the market phase. In a rally, speed is everything: demand eats the storefronts and fast liquid turnover wins. In a decline it flips: sellers get nervous, dump, and spreads open wider. The market is in exactly that phase now: by PriceEmpire's count, CS2 skin capitalization slid from a peak of 10 billion dollars to 6.77 billion — a third off. Painful for sellers, a sale for buyers: cheap skins across the whole catalog cost less than at the peak. The classic downturn tactic from trader folklore — sit out in liquid illiquid and collect spreads while the crowd panics.
Three baits that lose people money. The phantom median: on rare souvenirs and autograph stickers a "70–90% gap" is painted by three sellers' wishlists — no real sales happen at that price, and you will not sell into it. Boosts: a price pumped by a couple of insider deals so that someone else's software sees a "deal". The dead book: the skin really is below median, but no marketplace has a buyer for it — you just freeze your bankroll. The antidote is always the same: read the real-sales block on the item card, not the difference between ask prices.
Let's count on a live example from the table. The
USP-S Ancient Visions buys at $24 while the market median sits around $36. Sell it on a P2P market slightly below median, minus a 5–6% fee — about $32 in hand, i.e. +40% on the money before payout. The week-long trade lock, the sale queue and the withdrawal fee will each take a bite — so realistic returns on careful flipping land closer to 15–25% per trade cycle — the full buy-sell-withdraw loop, which still beats a savings account by a mile. Where to sell and how to count the net — in the marketplaces overview and selling guide.
The fattest, longest-living gaps are on knives: an expensive, slow-moving segment with 40–55% spreads. We covered it separately in the knife hub. And a fresh batch of finds always sits on the deals page — it updates with the database.
The minimum prices here are live and recompute as you view; medians and gap percentages are an August 22, 2026 snapshot. If a table row looks "broken" — that gap has been taken. New ones are sitting on the deals page right now.
